Surya Namaskar, the Sanskrit name for ‘salutation to the sun’. Historically, when practiced in any of its various forms, the Sun Salutations are done so with the intention of aligning our individual selves and lives with the greater, more collective pulse of creation. Thus making it one of the most useful methods of broadening and expanding our awareness and consciousness.
Traditionally the sun salutation sequence is a complete, systematic practice in and of itself. As it so perfectly combines asana, pranayama, mantra, chakra stimulation and meditational techniques. All of which contribute to the induction of heightened physical health, mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall vitality.
“There is a sun within every person.” — Rumi
