Day 2: Welcome to Beijing!

Your journey begins as you arrive in Beijing. After checking in, the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Take a relaxing break at the hotel or venture out to explore the vibrant city on your own.

Day 3: Beijing Exploration - Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City

17 October
Start your morning with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to practice Tai Chi alongside local residents. The Temple of Heaven served as a sacrificial altar for emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, who prayed for bountiful harvests and enduring peace. Today, the park is a lively place where you may encounter Beijingers engaged in music, song, and dance.

Your immersive journey through China begins at Tiananmen Square, a historic and expansive public square. Adjacent to it stands the magnificent Forbidden City, a symbol of imperial grandeur. Your guide will share fascinating stories about the palace complex as you explore this architectural masterpiece.

Conclude your day by visiting Jingshan Park, where you can enjoy panoramic views from atop a hill, offering a stunning perspective of the Forbidden City.

Day 4: The Great Wall and Summer Palace Excursion

Day 5: High-Speed Bullet Train Journey to Xi'an

Day 7: Flight to Guilin and Riverside Exploration

Today, board a flight to Guilin and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of this enchanting city. Begin your exploration with a leisurely stroll through Guilin Elephant Trunk Hill Park, where you’ll encounter the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill and its striking natural formations where we will take time to practice Tai Chi to stretch out our travels. Marvel at the Sun and Moon Pagodas, towering examples of traditional Chinese Buddhist architecture, as they stand majestically against the backdrop of the picturesque landscape.

In the evening, embark on the Two Rivers and Four Lakes Cruise, a tranquil journey that showcases Guilin’s stunning waterfront scenery. Glide along the shimmering waters as you admire the illuminated bridges, pagodas, and city lights, immersing yourself in the magical ambiance of Guilin’s rivers and lakes.

Day 8: Longji Rice Terraces Expedition

Later in the afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Guilin, providing a well-deserved break to relax and unwind.

Day 9: Yangshuo River Cruise & Show

Journey from Guilin on a river cruise to Yangshuo, where the landscape unfolds like a masterpiece, with lush karst mountains emerging like verdant domes around the meandering Li River. The idyllic countryside, immortalized in traditional Chinese paintings, offers a serene escape with breathtaking mountain vistas.

As we embark on this relaxed cruise along the Li River, every bend reveals a captivating view—jagged karst peaks, rural scenes of lush greenery, grazing buffalo, and local fishermen creating a picturesque panorama.

As the day transitions to evening, immerse yourself in the enchanting “Impression of Liu Sanjie” Nature Music and Light Show. This captivating performance takes advantage of the natural surroundings, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that adds a touch of magic to your Yangshuo experience.

Day 10: Yangshuo Exploration

Day 11: Guilin to Wudang Mountain

25 October
Embark on a bullet train journey from Guilin to Wudang Mountain, a sacred site with a history spanning over 1000 years. Revered as the No.1 Taoist Mountain in China, Wudang Mountain is not only a haven for breathtaking natural scenery but also the birthplace of Tai Chi and Taoist martial arts.

Day 13: Shanghai Contrasts, Gardens and River Cruise

27 October
Embark on a train journey to the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Shanghai. Upon arrival, experience the futuristic Maglev train, whisking you from the airport to the heart of the city at incredible speeds.

Shanghai, a captivating blend of tradition and modernity, awaits your exploration.

In the evening, treat yourself to a panoramic cruise on the Huangpu River, providing stunning views of both banks. Here you’ll find the harmonious blend of colonial architecture along The Bund on the west bank and the ultramodern skyscrapers of Pudong on the east bank.

Conclude the day with a delightful dinner featuring traditional Shanghainese cuisine.

Day 14: Exploring Shanghai's Cultural Gems

28 October
Embark on a day of cultural exploration starting with a visit to the charming Yu Yuan Garden, an oasis of tranquility amidst the bustling city. Stroll through the old town, immersing yourself in the rich history that lines its narrow alleyways.

Continue your journey to Zhujiajiao, a picturesque water town built along an ancient canal system that once facilitated trade across imperial China. Wander through narrow alleyways, where old-world charm permeates the air, and marvel at ancient buildings lining the waterways, connected by stone bridges. The timeless beauty of Zhujiajiao, offeris a glimpse into China’s storied past.

Day 15: Departure to the UK

29 October
We bid farewell to the vibrant city of Shanghai as you embark on your journey back to the UK (or your destination country). Fly homeward non-stop, filled with memories of your unforgettable adventures in China.

Travel Insurance

It is a condition of booking with us that you take out suitable travel insurance covering at least circumstances leading to the cancellation of your booking and providing sufficient medical cover for illness or injury and repatriation while overseas, including COVID-19 cover. Yogalily will not be liable for any costs incurred by you due to your failure to take out suitable travel insurance from the date of booking.

Cancellation

Because we start to incur costs in relation to your arrangements from the time we confirm your booking, if you cancel we have to make a charge and the nearer to your departure date you cancel, the higher the charge will be. If you wish to cancel a confirmed booking you must do so by writing via Email. Cancellation takes effect from the day we receive your letter. Cancellation charges are shown in the table below and will be payable immediately on cancellation. Where the cancellation charge is shown as a percentage, this is calculated on the basis of the total cost payable by the person(s) cancelling excluding and amendment charges.

Organiser – If we change or cancel your holiday

Occasionally, we have to make changes to and correct errors in the tour description/itinerary and other details both before and after bookings have been confirmed and cancel confirmed bookings. Whilst we always endeavour to avoid changes and cancellations, we must reserve the right to do so. The right is also reserved to any change in airline, aircraft types and vessels scheduled for any specific departure.

Personal Responsibility & Assumption of Risk

The participant acknowledges and takes full responsibility for their health, well-being and all personal decisions made before, during and after the retreat.  This includes, but is not limited to, yoga, tai chi, qigong or any physical activities you choose to partake in, your suitability to travel, or any medical conditions or medical treatment that you receive or may need to receive.

Disclaimer: You acknowledge that we, Yogalily (Lili Chen & David Barnett), are solely providing services as yoga and tai chi qigong teachers,  We are not tour operators or travel agents, and are acting solely as a co-ordinator and contact point on behalf of the group in terms of relationship with the venues and have no liability in relation to the suppliers who are a 3rd party. Many of the services which make up your tour are provided by independent suppliers. Those suppliers provide these services in accordance with their own terms and conditions.

Behaviour

When you book with Yogalily you accept responsibility for the proper conduct for yourself and your party whilst on Holiday. If we or any other person in authority is of the reasonable opinion that you or any member of your party is behaving in such a way as to cause or be likely to cause danger or upset to any other person or damage to property, we will be entitled to terminate the holiday of the person(s) concerned. The person(s) concerned will be required to leave the accommodation or other service and we will have no further responsibility to them including any return travel arrangements. No refunds will be made and we will not pay any expenses or costs incurred as a result of the termination. You will be responsible for making full payment for any damage or loss caused by you or any member of your party during your time away. Payment must be paid directly at the time to the service supplier concerned. If the actual cost of the loss or damage exceeds the amount paid where estimated, you must pay the difference once known. If the actual cost is less than the amount paid, the difference will be refunded. You will also be responsible for meeting any claims subsequently made against us and all costs incurred by us (including our own and the other party’s full legal costs) as a result of your actions.

All points of this agreement remain in place up to, during and after the end of the retreat.

Passport & Visa for China

Passport validity requirements

To enter China, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive in China and 2 blank pages for visas and stamping.

Applying for a visa

You need a visa to visit mainland China.

If you’re 18 to 70 years old, you must apply for a visa in person at a visa application centre. If you’re aged 71 and over, you can only apply online. You must provide biometric data (scanned fingerprints) as part of your application. There are visa application centres in London, Manchester, Belfast and Edinburgh. The details of their opening hours are on their websites.
