YOGA : SUPPORTING OUR NHS

Continuing our support for our NHS heroes, we’d like to offer NHS staff free access to our online classes. If you are, or know someone who is staff, contact us.

How to access your booked class live

Online classes are delivered through Zoom video conferencing software. It’s really easy to use.

  • First, download Zoom to your device (Macs, PCs, iPads and iPhones, Android – the bigger the screen, the better view you’ll have.)
  • Access your booked class by clicking Join a Meeting and inserting the Meeting ID in Zoom or just follow the meeting’s access link. These details are given above and remain unchanged each week.
  • When asked, enter the unique 6-digit password for that week’s class (sent to all registrants by email 1 hour before the class).
  • When relevant, select ‘Open zoom.us‘ and then ‘Join with Computer Audio’ – that should bring you into the class.

Guidelines for inside the class

  • Ideally, place your device 2-3 metres from you so that you and your mat are visible onscreen (in a smaller room you may need to slightly change the angle of your screen for when sitting and standing). In this way, we have a better chance of being able to check on your practice and offer tips, as in a normal class.
  • We’ll open up the classroom 10 minutes before the scheduled time of the class. Feel free to come in early to get settled with technology and your Yoga set-up or to chat with others. There will also be some chance for this after class.
  • If you arrive even earlier, that’s OK, but you’ll have to wait a moment for the online space to open up.
  • When you enter the class:
    • Your video should automatically come on. If not, click Start Video in the bottom left corner of your screen.
    • You might want to ‘pin‘ the video of us (as the teacher) to the large screen once we start our Yoga or Qigong practice, so it doesn’t switch when someone else talks. Here’s how to do this.
  • Here are some other useful Zoom help guides you might want to look at:

Troubleshooting

  • Check that your computer/device has working audio and video
  • Leave the meeting (class) and try the link again
  • If the link isn’t working, try entering the Meeting ID and password instead
  • If all else fails – contact zoom support, there is a chat option on the website

Please get in touch with any problems/feedback

Please bear with us through any teething problem in getting these online sessions up and running. If you have any trouble in the booking process or accessing or during the online sessions, please do get in touch. Your feedback will be much appreciated and help me tweak things so they work smoothly. Thanks!

PLEASE SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS LIKE US

Being self employed, Yoga is our only source of income, and there will be many small businesses locally just like us that will be struggling to keep their heads above water, or even a roof over their heads. We’ve taken the gamble, that communities will pull together to support each other and have invested in the technology and equipment to bring online classes to you while supporting your mental and physical wellbeing during this time of uncertainty; we promise to keep our prices as low as we can afford, as we know you will be struggling too.
