Develop your practice

Welcome to our Beginners Yoga Next Steps Course at Oxley Park Community Centre, Milton Keynes

The 10-week Beginners Yoga Next Steps Course with David, is specially designed to develop your practice, progressing on from our Small Group Yoga for Beginners Course. It is suitable for those who are familiar with the foundational yoga postures and yogic breath control/awareness (pranayama), and those who have a little yoga experience, looking to improve their understanding and build a strong foundation of Yoga. This is an ideal ‘next step’ furthering your knowledge & understanding, this course aims to create a solid & safe foundation so you feel confident, comfortable and inspired to attend any of the regular Open Level classes & themed workshops.

  • Monday: 6:15pm – 7:15pm

Why a Next Steps Course?

The Beginners Yoga Next Steps Course will progress postures featured in the Small Group Yoga for Beginners Course, and will introduce you to new postures and pose groups deepening your practice, weaving held poses with slow flows and yoga nidra (yogic sleep). We will include Sun Salutation variations, hip, shoulder & heart openers, backbends, standing balances, arm balancing postures and introduce Pranayama practices.

Increasing fitness, concentration and reducing stress

The course grows steadily each week to work on improving your understanding of the practice by focusing on healthy alignment and establishing a deeper awareness of your breathing, increasing your knowledge and experience of different yoga techniques, and deepening awareness of your body so you can become more confident in how you are working in the regular classes. The course builds on developing stamina, increasing tone, strength & flexibility, improving focus and concentration, and helping you to cultivate calmness and reducing stress.
