Traditional Yoga

The traditional practice of Hatha Yoga is holistic in nature; meaning, it covers not just the physical aspects of yogic practice (like asanas or poses and mudras or locks), but also breathing, meditation, and spiritual purification. In modern Western practice, however, Hatha Yoga is often taught as a physical practice and typically uses a basic approach to teaching yoga poses and breathing exercises. Yoga Lily, lived and was trained in the far east, she uses the traditional, relaxing and invigorating method in her Hatha Yoga classes in Milton Keynes.

Who Can Do Yoga

Anyone can do Yoga because its practice is aimed toward relaxation and stress reduction. You don’t have to worry about not being flexible enough or if you would be able to keep up with the class. Yoga Lily’s Yoga classes in Milton Keynes cover the basics of this ancient Indian tradition; so you will learn how to breathe properly and center your attention on clearing mental clutter as you do various Yoga poses.

Benefits Of Yoga

The Yoga classes taught in studios today aim to teach students how basic yoga postures and poses can help in stress reduction and management – all while staying fit and reaping the physical benefits of the yoga tradition. There are too many benefits to doing Yoga; you have flexibility, muscle strength and toning, de-stressing, improved posture…the list goes on and on. But if you ask me, one of the most important benefits of this yogic style is that it can be done by anyone and does a good job of introducing first-timers to the wonderful world of yoga.

Yoga Poses

Some examples of the poses and postures you will learn in my Yoga Lily Hatha Yoga classes in Milton Keynes are the Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana), Camel Pose (Ustrasana), Locust Pose (Salabhasana), Bow Pose (Dhanurasana), Triangle Pose (Utthita Trikonasana), etc. and because the practice of Hatha Yoga today is largely considered as introductory, you will also get to learn poses and postures most suited for mediation and breathing exercises. Examples of these are the Tree Pose (Vrkasana), Lotus Pose (Padmasana), Child’s Pose (Balasana), and Corpse Pose (Savasana).

All in all, my Hatha & Yin Yoga classes in Milton Keynes are the foundation to further exposure in yoga as you progress in your practice. Ease yourself into this mind-body activity with my Yoga classes to get your feet wet. When you are confident enough to explore my more advanced yoga classes in MK, it’s always a good idea to return to my Yoga classes in MK for a calmer, gentler practice when you need to ease your mind or bring yourself back to basics.

“There is a magical quality that makes yoga different from Western ‘workouts’; traditional yoga gives you true fitness and brings inner-strength, clarity and calm.”
